So blessed!

I’m finally able to announce something I’ve been holding back for a couple of weeks. Barbara Scott, Fiction Editor for Abingdon Press, has bought my book, Sweet Baklava, set in Tarpon Springs, Florida! It’s scheduled for a Spring 2011 release.

My agent Tamela Hancock Murray has been right there with me, selling my books and cheering me on. I’m thankful we’re on the same team!

Since my book has a strong Greek influence, I'll include some of my favorite recipes for spanakopita, avgolemono soup, and of course baklava. Yum!

Mid-Summer Pick-Me-Up!

Here we are, smack dab in the middle of summer, the humidity high and the heat index even higher. It’s too hot and rainy to go outside and play, so I’ve been spending most of my days indoors, working and reading—not much to talk about on a blog. So I’ve let it slide, until I started getting e-mails from friends asking if I was okay.

I’m fine. Better than fine. Life is good. Dull but that’s good. I have some writing and teaching gigs that I enjoy, family to love, and everything I need close by. But still, I wanted something to perk me up yesterday.

So I went to a fashion jewelry sale. I love to accessorize with dangly earrings and fun necklaces, so I was in accessory heaven. I fondled at least a hundred different necklaces and held dozens of pairs of earrings next to my face to see how they looked in the mirror. After more than an hour of perusing, I narrowed down my selection to a few things that would enhance my wardrobe, although I'm not averse to finding clothes to go with my jewelry. But that's a blog for a different day.

I chose pieces that would accent some of my Carolyn Strauss and Antthony fashions.

Be Still...blog!

This is my week to post on the Be Still...and Let Your Nail Polish Dry blog. Since I've had to force myself to rest lately, I figured other people might benefit from the reminder. If you have time, please visit BeStillDevos and check it out.
